Visit pandas at their natural hometown in Wolong. The panda base in Wolong is the biggest and newest one among all the panda bases in Sichuan. Wolong Panda Base is also the only panda base that is located in an actual panda sanctuary. It has regularly around 40-50 pandas in total and a perfect place to see pandas. The hike is at above the panda base at Panda Mountain. This trip includes visit to panda and hike to the panda hometown.
Book NowToday is a long day, we will start by around 7:30-8:00am from your hotel by driving. The total drive is around 2 hours from Chengdu to the panda base in Wolong. Wolong panda base is about 100km away from Chengdu downtown. The drive will take us into the big mountains of Qionglanshan Range by the riverside of MinJiang where the pandas live naturally. After arrival go to see the pandas in the big enclosure including baby pandas. We will spend around 2-3 hours inside the panda base before go out.
After the visit have lunch at the nearby restaurant. There are only limited restaurants available at this place. After lunch we will then drive higher to Panda Mountain and we start to walk for around 1 hour to the top and wonder through the prairie and forest. The view is very open by the top. We will be able to see the bigger mountains further away and deep gorges below. The walking will be on safe trails and unpaved mountain road and track. In snow season it maybe covered in snow and after snow days the trails will be muddy. Upper part of the trail by the top will often see horses and cows that some places will see horse shit. Please be aware of this before signing up this tour. The hiking is not in a tourist park and it is not under constant maintenance but rather wild and inside the panda reserve.
After spending time by the top we will go back down to the base and drive back to Chengdu. Arrive in Chengdu at around 6-7pm.

1. The pandas are usually more active in the morning that's why we arrange the visit in the morning instead of afternoon.
2. There is sometimes traffic jam during busy season after the freeway because the smaller road here is sometimes busy.
3. The hike to Panda Mountain is around 3km single way and it goes the same way back with proper but maybe muddy trail. This is a wild and unpaved trail. The panda mountain hike is not a tourist park.
