Everyone is required to carry a covid test within 48h when travel to Garze (Daocheng Yading, Kangding, Hailuogou, Tagong, etc). You are also required to have a local Tianfu Health QR Green Code , green Travel-Communication Tracking Code, and another covid test within 24 hours in a local hospital after you arrive Daocheng Yading.
Now Daocheng Yading (and the whole Garze Predecture including Kangding, Minya Konka, Danba) is using a new system of categorizing travelers from different regions to give different level of covid restrictions.
Type A: Large-scale outbreak regions
If you are from (or have traveled to) any district/county within recent 7 days that has major outbreak, you are required to have at least 7 days quarantine after arrival. For example if you live in Beijing Chaoyang District and there is outbreak there in Chaoyang in the last 7 days til now, you will be required to be quarantined for 7 days after arrival and when you are tested negative multiple times before you can move around.
Type B1: Outbreak regions - Same District
If you are from (or have traveled to within 7 days) any district/county that has any case, you are required to have a 7 days quarantine after arrival. For example if you live in Beijing Chaoyang District and there is any case in Chaoyang district in the last 7 days til now, you will be required to be quarantined for 7 days after arrival before you can move around.
Type B2: Anywhere outside of Sichuan Province that doesn't belong to the above two categorise.
If you have an asterisk (*) in your travel communication code, or you are from (or have traveled to within 7 days) anywhere outside of Sichuan, you are required to be quarantined for 3 days after arrival.
During quarantine you will have covid test by local government. Cost of quarantine will be paid by yourself.
At the moment (23 Apr) the whole Shanghai is type A region, Chaoyang District of Beijing is type B1. Guangzhou and Shenzhen are B1 type. See below details of the list.
You are likely to be checked at the following locations.
At the airport of Yading. They will check your passport, your green code.
One Road check by Sangdui around 0.5h from the airport to Yading Park. They'll check your passport, green code, tracking code and possibly covid test.
Hotels will ask for passport information, visa, green code, tracking code and covid test. And hotel will likely to take photos of your codes.
Parks of Yading will require passport info, green code and covid test when foreigners going in.
Recommended to have the apps within your wechat ready and make sure your phone has good internet access.
Daocheng Yading requires covid test within 48 hours since the beginning. You have more options where to get a test. If you are flying, you can get test from where you live. If you come from Shangrila in Yunnan, there are plenty of places to do test. If your traveling to Yading is on the road and beyond 2 days, you can do it in Daocheng Hospital.
It is common that different places require different papers and proofs of covid. More than one government departments are involved in dealing with covid and foreign travelers. The parties involved include: a. Department of Emergency Management, b. Local Police, c. Local Office of Foreign Affairs, d.Local Desease Control Office, When you see at different places regulations are different, this is normal. It is a very good idea to have as much proof as you may get while traveling to Yading because if there is new outbrak then the rules change quickly.
However, there are more rules regulated on foreign travelers to Yading than on Chinese nationals. Please be patient and understanding that small places such as Yading doesn't see many foreigners as in the big cities. Local people will likely to get nervous when they see foreigners and the local government people want to be more cautious as well on foreigners. Daocheng Yading kept open to foreigners during the pandemic for most of the time. It may be closed to foreigners in the future due to possible outbreak. Despite the fact most of the foreign visitors to Yading are living in China and have all the proofs of healthy condition, there may still be restrictions on foreigners from time to time. The following department of government are the ones you can contact to file a complain when you feel you are not treated equally or fairly.
