Travel to Sichuan During Pandemic

This article is about tips and notes on foreigners travel to Sichuan during the pandemic.

What do I need to prepare and how do I get these proofs?

01. Local Tianfu Health Code ?????

This is easy to set up if you use wechat. It takes 24 hours for you to set this up. Filling up the information and you will have a green QR code and you are free to go to many places in Sichuan. Please read details.

02. Communication – Travel Tracking Code ??????

This is a national-wide health proof that is recognized by many organizations and places. It uses your phone number to track where you traveled and tells if you traveled to hotspots of new outbreaks. It takes just one minute to set this up. Please read details.

03. Nucleic Acid Test Result – Negative ????

In the regulations it doesn’t say you will definitely need a Nucleic Acid Test but a proof of test within 14 days helps you to get though the checks and saves lots of trouble. Please read list of places where you can do nucleic acid test in Chengdu. This is only required when you go to places such as Garze or Aba and it is nor required if you are traveling around Chengdu.

04. Proof of you staying in China since before or during the outbreak. ????

This is also not regulated that you will definitely need but it is important and helps a lot when you go through the checks. A proof you can get from your employer or community/place where you live. It doesn’t have a formal format but anything with a stamp works. Seea sample here

How long does it take?

To set up a Tianfu Health Code, you need up to 24 hours.

To set up the tracking code it requires only a minute.

To get a nucleic acid test you need up to 24 hours.

Other requirements

You are required to use face mask when using public transport and when going to shopping malls or cinemas.

If you come from hotspots places of new clusters, you may not be able to get far after you land in Chengdu. You’ll be required to do tests and it takes up to 14 days.

Checking in hotels will require 01 Tianfu Health Code; 02 Communication – Travel Tracking Code and 03 Your passport. With all these 3 things you are free to check in hotel. Til 20th July this is the true policy. Please note this and do this in ahead of time so to save time.

Risks

You are always recommended to stay at home and wait until the pandemic is over. However if you travel, regulations of the place you travel to change quickly, you are recommended to have all possible proofs you can get with you so to get through places quickly. Small places may apply the policy in a complete different manner due to change of regulations, or simply from local authority.
