The ice climbing season in the popular ice climbing places in Sichuan is usually from mid December to mid February. The higher the altitude the longer the ice stays. Some locations at above 3500m the ice stays all the way to early May and remain climbable til mid April although each year the temperature is different in spring time and ice conditions are different.
The temperature reaches the lowest by winter time (December to February) in places in west Sichuan at around 3000m by -15C the lowest and average -8C and during daytime the temperature can reach above 5C the warmest. .
