This article is about the ices around Yaan near the higher mountains above 3000m and 4000m. Yaan is usually a wet place even in winter time. The climbing season is rather short. Although some places have very unique ices including some of the longest icefalls in Sichuan by Mt. Wawu and ice in the cave near Dawa.
The suited climbing season is by mid-late January by lower places.
No permits are required but some ices are inside tourist parks such as Mt. Wawu that may require special access.
