Yajiageng

Yajiageng is not part of Hailuogou Glacier. Yajiageng refers to the area of the mountain pass between Kangding and Hailuogou (Moxi). The pass itself is just one of the road passes in western Sichuan but it seperates two climate zones and two culture zones in general. On the west side of the pass is the Kham Kangding and it is highland climate and east to the pass is Luding and a warmer and wetter climate.

There is a road available from Moxi to Kangding that goes over Yajiageng Road Pass. This road is with good conditions but many bends. It is called Yumo Road. Yu indicates Yulin Village of Kangding and Mo indicates Moxi. From Moxi drive to Kangding it takes around 1.5 hours.

Red Rock Slide (Hongshi Tan)

Red Rock Slide is a new tourist attraction on the way from Moxi to Yajiageng and considered usually to be part of Yajiageng. There is one red rock place in both Hailuogou Park and Yanzigou Park. The red rocks here refers to the big rock slide NOT in either of these two parks.

The red rocks are one of the common things you see here. They lie in the river valley and each year they are with different sizes. The red color on the surface of rocks is a red lichen that live on the rocks. Official name of it is called rentepohlia jolithus. They only live by above 3000 meters. You can find these slides of rocks by the rivers in Hailuogou Park, Yanzigou Park and the Red Rock Slide. The biggest red rock slide is where it is called Red Rock Slide Park but it is not acctually a park but rather a stop by the side of Yumo Road where you stop to have a look by the river. The big slide is higher than the stop and there are view planforms where you can stop and take photos.

Tianhaizi Peak

Tianhaizi Shan is the mountain you see by the top of Yajiageng Road Pass.

Tianhaizi is also named Wuse peak or Hunhaizi peak, rises up 6070m at the northeast of Minya Konka Range, makes it one of the 6000+ peaks among the big mountains here. It is close to Kangding(10kms). Standing along with the separated Tianhaizi peak there are Baihaizi peak(5942m), Bijia peak(5880m) and Shehaizi peak(5878m). It has been summited by Amerians the first time in 1993 and more expedition teams afterward.
