In general, there are three different plans of trekking Minya Konka: North Minya Konka Trek, South Minya Konka Trek and both north and south Minya Konka Trek. The north Minya Konka trek takes around 5-6 days total with everyday open vews available but it doesn’t offer chance to see the highest mountain of Minya Konka although it has chance to see many other mountains in this range although since 2025 it is a very crowded trek due to the easy access from Kangding. Minya Konka South trek also takes around 5-7 days and it offers chance to see the highest peak of Minya Konka but the views for each day are not as open but will have much less people or some places no people at all. The third plan of hiking Minya Konka is the classic way of hiking to Minya Konka, usually what we call “hiking through ”. It takes around 9-10 days total and it covers both north and south.

Our Trekking Recommendation
If you have limited time, choose Gongga North but it's very crowded. It is true that it doesn’t offer the chance of seeing the highest mountain of Minya Konka but it always has open views during the whole trekking part while the Gongga South Trek has most nights in lodges and has multiple chances of seeing panorama view of the whole Minya Konka Range. If you do have time you can consider the hiking-through plan.
