Yaha Road Pass used to be one of the most popular photo spots of Minya Konka Mountains from the west side due to its quick and easy access by driving. It is located at a road pass near Jiagenba that one can see the whole range of Minya Konka West. The sunset golden glow on the mountain has become a super popular thing to do while traveling here. The location is at the elevation of around 4600m above sea level.
Yaha Road Pass Photo Spot is located 60km southwest to Xinduqiao and by driving it takes around 1.5h to get to if no traffic. At the moment(2025 summer) the road up to the pass is under construction and only certain hours of a day the road is open. The road is going to be a good road and be finished by early 2026. We expect by then the driving will be shorter and more people will pour into this place.
Yaha Road Pass is open to visitors from May to October but after the road is complete this place may be available all year round. The busy season is July, August and October. In summer you have 50% chance of seeing foggy weather but the mountains are green. In autumn and winter the chance of clear days are higher but the mountains are not green(March to early May). Spring may see more snow than winter and other seasons.
The direct distance to Minya Konka Range from Yaha Road Pass is around 15km (25km to the highest peak Mt. Gongga). Using phone cameras can get very good photos of the mountains and views. Flying drone is allowed in Yaha. Sunset time is usually between 7pm and 8:15pm. You will see other people there sometimes a lot of people but it’s an open place and you can usually find spots for good photos. We suggest you to plan for at least 1.5h driving up this place from Xinduqiao given the high possibility of traffic jam.
This is a decent road that is wide and good enough to allow normal cars to drive through by the time it’s done. The road connects to the good sites and locations by the west of Minya Konka including Lenggacuo, Zimei Pass, Quanhuatan and Lisuo Lake, Gongga Gompa. We suggest you to do a circuit trip (estimated from spring 2026) to cover all the good places by west of Minya Konka.
No ticket or fee is required by this place except possible parking fee when the road is complete.
