Riuqie Valley

So the main places to go to in Gonggashan are the valleys to go to. By the east of Gonggashan there are Hailuogou Valley and Yanzigou Valley, Nanmenguan Valley. By the north is the Riuqie Valley or Riuqi Valley or Riwoqie Valley, or Riwuqie Valley.

Valleys in the east of Minya Konka are somehow developed tourist parks while the other valleys remain wild and authentic although since 2024 in Riuqi we have seen big crowds of hikers every day and making it a very busy place now in every season. See below photos of 2024 and 2025 we have seen the nature not being so preserved in Riuqi Valley due to over-crowds.

Riuqi Camp

Riuqi Camp (there are now total 80 huts or big dome tents by Riuqi til June 2025). This photo shows only one quarter of the huts are.

Riuqie Valley is the big valley that starts by Laoyulin from new part of Kangding and all the way to Riuqie Pass. Laoyulin is also where a classic Gonggashan Hiking Trip starts. In Riquqie Valley there are plenty of beautiful places including Lower Riuqie Pasture, Upper Riuqie Pasture, Little Konka, Mt. Jiazi, Mt. Grosvenor, Reddomain Glacier Lake and Riuqie Pass., etc.

Please note since 2025 the entrance to Riuqi via Laoyulin Village has been shut off by Kangding Environment Authority to all hikers (although all hikers walk around the checkpoint and go into the valley anyway, usually guided by local villagers). Please be aware that by entering from this valley doing hiking, you are violating Chinese laws.
