Minya Konka Glaciers

Glaciers in the Minya Konka range are impressive boasting for their low altitude(3000 meters at the lowest) among other glaciers at the same latitude. Number of glaciers are at least 159 and the glaciers strech a 390-sqr kilometer's wide.

Among them are the known No.1 Glacier in Hailuo Valley in the southeast, Gongpa Glacier, Bawang Glacier in the south, Yanzigou Glaciers. The glaciers are sometimes as thick as 300 meters. The landscape is estimated to be shaped by the glaciers into knife-edged mountains by thousands of years' corrading. One iceslide in Hailuo Valley is as long as 6 kms suprisingly with a width of 600 meters and thickness of 120 meters. Different shapes of ice provide excellent camera-friendly views: ice tables, ice lakes, ice arches, ice bridges, etc.

Gongga Glaciers

It is now a quite touristed sightseeing spot in the Hailuo Valley. Convenient facilities are available since 2000 the local government decided to boost its tourism. The locals say there are three features of the glaciers here: one is not going to feel cold even stand on one of them. Icefall is quite often as the hotel staff and secenic workers in Hailuo Valley claims the thunders made by the icefall from far beyond. The other one is the even more forms of ice are wirnessed: ice chairs, ice mushrooms, ice corries and any other names that you can think of when you see them, but it is true that the everchanging climate brings a lot of rainfall and snowfall into this valley and views are therefore quite variable.
