Gonggashan (Minya Konka) Photo Spot: Deqin Mijing (Deqin Hidden Land)

Deqin Mijing (Deqin Hidden Land) is a new photo spot and has become more popular in recent years. It is located at a higher spot at around 4500m, providing higher and bigger views of the mountains. Deqin Mijing is also located by the west of Minya Konka Mountains and located at a mountain top near Xinduqiao. One can see the whole range of Minya Konka West face from there. This place is less popular than Yuzixi or Lenggacuo and usually has less people.

Location and Getting There

Deqin Mijing Photo Spot is located 50km south to Xinduqiao and by driving it takes around 80 minutes to get to if no traffic. The road goes up the top is bumpy and unpaved. The photo spot is accessible by 4X4 cars.

Travel Season

Deqin Mijing is open to visitors from May to October each year. The other seasons it will be shut off for forest fire risks. The best seasons are from June to October. In summer you have 50% chance of seeing foggy weather but the mountains are green. In autumn the chance of clear days are higher but the mountains are not green. One may stay there for sunset.

Suggestions and Planning

The direct distance to Minya Konka Range from Deqin is around 35km. Using phone cameras can get very good photos of the mountains and views. Flying drone is allowed in Deqin Mijing. Sunset time is usually between 7pm and 8:15pm. This is an open place and you can usually find spots for good photos. We suggest you to plan for at least 1.5h driving to this place from Xinduqiao.

There is no place/hotel to stay up by the photo spot. But there are lodges and hotels in the village down low but not very comfortable rooms. Camping is not allowed here but no one really cares and checks.
