Kasa Lake

Kasa Lake is a big lake located 60km west to town of Luhuo, and 40km east to the town of Ganzi. It is by the drive way. Normally visitors stop here to take photos from the roads above.

This lake is also home to many different kinds of migrate birds. Kasa lake is with a total area of 1.92 square kilometers, it is a typical alpine freshwater lake. It was designated a provincial-level nature reserve as early as 1999.

Kasa is a holy lake to local people. According to local people this lake is revered as the "Mother Lake." According to legend, an elderly man made a devout prayer that moved the gods, and from beneath a frog-shaped boulder, spring water began to gush forth, gradually forming the lake. To this day, people still circumambulate the lake to pray for bountiful harvests. There is one nunnery and one monastery by the lake.

The burial mound (stone coffin) cemetery site near the lake is also worth a visit—it is large in scale and dates back to the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods.
