Updated Drone Rules of Sichuan (China)

Rules (in brief)

• Any drone weight above 250g needs to register on OUM with your real name and ID.
• Registration must come with a drone ID qr code and put on your done.
• Any unregistered drone or unregistered fly by restricted area will face fine of CNY200 to CNY20,000.
• Flying by restricted area is forbidden but can try register and apply (details below).
• Flying by unrestricted area must be below 120m from ground.

Where and When to Register?

• If to fly by the restricted area or to fly above 120m from ground:
• 1, Go to the UOM platform to register and apply.
• 2, Each flying needs to register/apply before 12:00pm the former day and wait for approval.
• 3, Check in 1 hour before you actually fly.
• 4, Keep your ID with you.
• 5, No flying allowed after drinking alcohol or using drugs.

Where are the Restricted Areas?

In the following map, the blue colored regions of Sichuan are the unrestricted areas that one can fly a drone.

The Blue Area allows Drone Fly below 120m

Below is a list of drone-allowed parks and tourists sites in West Sichuan.

• Mt. Siguniang,
• Daocheng Yading,
• Hailuogou Park and Yanzigou Park,
• Cuopu Valley,
• Genyen,
• Tagong and Xinduqiao (but not near the Kangding Airport),
• Jiuzhaigou Park,
• Huanglong Park
• Dagu Glacier,
• Bipenggou,
• Yellow River Bend and Zoige,

The more touristy and densely-populated places are usually restricted, including:

• All sites in Chengdu,
• Chengdu Panda Base,
• Dujiangyan Panda Base,
• Wolong Panda Base,
• Yaan Bifengxia Panda Base,
• Leshan Buddha,
• Emei Mountain Lower Part,
• Dujiangyan Park,

Don’t fly your drone at any airports.

What happens if I fly above 120m from Ground in the unrestricted area?

Usually if you don’t do this in any city or densely-populated places, nothing will happen to you. We haven’t seen any penalty or fine on anyone for flying over 120m above ground in the nature parks of West Sichuan such as Siguniang, Daocheng Yading, Minya Konka, etc.
