Tsotong Lakes are also called Cuotong Cuihu, or Cuotong Lakes, or Sanlianhu(Three Lakes) or Cuo A Cuihu. It is a cluster of 3 beautiful and turquoise lakes located in Derge of West Sichuan near G317 Highway. These lakes are surrounded by high mountains and red mountains with beautiful blue-green color and are hidden far from the roads. Tsotong Lakes are considered non-touristy and non-commercial place.

Cuotong Lakes are located 20km south of G317 on the way from Ganzi County to Manigange. The detour up to the lakes takes around 1 hour on unpaved road. In snow season (December to the next April) the road may be risky to drive on.
Three beautiful lakes with different color and size located by the elevation of 4600m and surrounded by mountains. The color of lakes making themselves like gems hidden in the big mountains. The color of the mountains are also in a unique red color form. It is a highly isolated place with few tourists. This place is recommended for anyone who wishes to explore the hidden gems.
The high altitude requires you to be acclimated before you go up to the lakes. The visit to the lakes are not recommended if it’s your first day here (when you fly in to Ganzi Airport) because it has a high risk of AMS. You will need to have a 4X4 car to drive up to the lakes on the unpaved and poorly maintained mountain road. No restaurants or hotels are available within 20km distance from the lakes.
