Dawa Gengza

Dawa Gengzha (or Dawa Gengza) Scenic Area is located in Gari Village, Qiaoqi Tibetan Township, Baoxing County, Ya'an City, Sichuan Province. The scenic area covers an area of nearly 50 square kilometers. The highest elevation of Yunding is 3866 meters. It belongs to the Qionglai Mountain Range. The terrain is high in the north and low in the south. It is one of the best 360° viewing platform". Dawa Gengza is located at the junction of Ya'an City, Ganzi Prefecture and Aba Prefecture in Sichuan Province.

Dawa Gengza means "beautiful mountain" in Tibetan. From here one can see around the famous mountains such as Siguniang Mountain in the north, Pagla Mountain in the south, Gongga peaks in the west, Emei Mountain in the east. From the top one can also see clouds below, golden glows on the mountains, stars by night, etc. The locations on the top mainly include Yunding, Shenxianju, Meteor Slope, Luoxiping, Rhododendron Corridor, Xianhai Mandao, Shenhai Lotus Terrace, Musi Garden, Jiuwangtai and so on.

Lodging and Camping

There are tent hotels available by the top of Dawa Gengzha at the moment and one can also bring their one tent for the night. It is not a big place by the top.

60 yuan PP for Entrance. 80 yuan PP for park transfer.

Park opens from 4am in the morning to make it easy for people who want to watch sunrise, which is a main thing to do while traveling to Dawa Gengza. If to stay by the summit then you don't have to get up so early. But normally with cheaper accommodation and more choices on accommodation by the base of the mountain, many people choose to start from the base and start early in the morning. There is park transfer as early as 5am each day to take visitors up to the top. The transfer takes around 30 minutes.

Recommended Travel Plan

Day01 Chengdu - Baoxing - Yaoji Lake

Drive takes around 8 hours to the lake where you find accommodations for overnight. Before check in you can also go to Shenmulei Park for some light walking and visit. Shenmulei is a nature park by the foot of Dawa Gengzha.

Day02 Yaoji Lake - Dawa Gengzha - Chengdu

Early start (before 5am) and use park transfer to the top, watch sunrise, take as many photos as possible. Until 9am start to go back and start to drive back to Chengdu by around 10am.
