Join in our budget, quality, and efficient group tour to make a real impact in saving endangered Giant Pandas - meaningful Panda Volunteer Program which includes cleaning panda enclosures, feeding pandas, etc. So far, the Dujiangyan Panda Base is one of the only two places in China where you can do the volunteering works. It is only about one hour and half's driving from Chengdu city. Please note the panda feeding session is no longer available.
Book NowLeave Chengdu at 7:15 AM or earlier, then you will be transferred to Dujiangyan Panda Base which is only about 60km away from Chengdu downtown. The Panda Volunteer Program starts at 9:00am, and it finishes at around 14:30-15:00
Brief Process of Panda Volunteer Program:
1. Sign up at the Panda Base office. (Signing contract with the Base and paying the fee, then you will get a volunteering tag and working suit and gloves.) Panda Keepers will give you a basic briefing of today’s program including a time schedule.
2. An English-speaking staff in the base will lead you to take a minibus to one of the panda enclosures in the base.

4. Have lunch in the dining hall with panda keepers by the base. Watch documentary films about panda rescue if available. While if there is free time you are free to explore more inside the panda base to spend more time watching them. 11:30-12:30
5. Works in the afternoon includes:
7. Work done, and get the Panda Volunteer Certificate from the Base.
(Activity schedule above is usually fixed but according to each panda the exact timing may not be the same and sequence of activity may be changed too.)
After the work, say goodbye to the pandas and drive back to Chengdu.
1. Dujiangyan Panda Park provides panda works for volunteer workers. Its mission is to raise money for panda protection and to give people knowledge about giant pandas to raise the awareness of protecting wild lives and nature. And it also provides opportunities for visitors/workers to have close experience with the lovely pandas.
2. July to August is the busy season. We recommend you to avoid July and August for any volunteer work at any panda base. From 2023 we have seen big raise on number of volunteer workers each day during summer time mainly in July and August. There are sometimes as many as over 200 volunteer workers in the panda base in one day, making the work/experience very crowded. We recommend you to avoid this season or to come by end of August and other seasons to do the volunteer work to avoid the big crowd if possible..
3. If you only have limited time, you can do a half day work, which will also cost the same amount.
4. If you need, we can also help to book hotels in Chengdu and arrange airport/train pick-up and drop-off or other tours in Chengdu.

6. You are recommended to wear waterproof shoes to do the volunteer work.
