Yanzigou Valley is located at Yanzi Town in Garze Tibetan Prefecture in western Sichuan Province. It is the sister valley of Hailuogou Valley. Yanzigou is located 10km north to Hailuogou Valley. Within Yanzigou Valley, there are 15 mountains that are over 6000 meters. The lowest point of the valley is 2100 meters while the highest is 7556 meter at the summit of Mount Gongga. Many climbers have set base camp in this valley while mountaineering here. It is a less-visited tourist place comparing to Hailugou Glacier Park. It is a valley of forest, glaciers, mountains and rhododendron flowers.

What to see in Yanzigou

Yanzigou Valley

The red rock slide is 20km long and one of the major attractions of Yanzi Valley. The red rock slide is at the elevation of 3100 meters. It is also a sacred site for local people. Wild Animals number to 400 different kinds. May is the season to see lots of rhododendron flowers. The many big mountain walls are visible in this valley along with glaciers.

From 1980s it has attracted many climbers from all over the world to make attempts to Mount Gongga. Yanzigou is one of the places for extreme sports in China.

How to get to Yanzigou

Yanzigou Valley is located 10km north to Hailuogou Park, which is about 280km west to Chengdu. Take the bus from Xinnanmen Bus Station to Hailuogou by 9.30 in the morning you get to arrive there by 4 in the afternoon. To go back to Chengdu you take the bus at 7.30 in the morning at Hailuogou. The bus ticket costs about 120 yuan.

You can also use a flight to Yanzigou: Fly to Kangding airport from Chengdu and transfer from the airport to Yanzigou. There is one flight everyday from Chengdu taking about 1 hour.

Best time to visit Yanzigou

The best time to visit Hailuogou is the second half of the year when weather is more stable. To climb in Yanzigou usually you come by fall between September and November each year.

Ticket Information:Entrance fee per person is 100 yuan. There is also a bus ticket required which costs 70 yuan per person.
