Newly Born Baby of Ai Bang

Big news, good news!

At 06:06, 6 May, the-year-old female Giant Panda Ai Bang gave birth to her first child(boy) also the first newly born panda cub of year 2016 in the world in Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding. The little panda boy weighs about 145g. Currently, both the Ai Bang and her cub are under 24-hour care in the base. And all the health indicators are normal.

The First Time Being a Panda Mother for Ai Bang

35 Hours’ Waiting

On May 4, Ai Bang showed signs of giving birth. About 16:37 of 5 May, after 22 hours’ throes, Ai Bang finally broke the amniotic fluid, and became agitated and torturous, which is the normal reaction before giving birth. She went through the pain, and successfully gave birth to her first kid before the dawn of 6 May. Though being the first time of parturition, Ai Bang behaved very well from the very beginning of mating to the parturition. She put her bay in the arms, and flicked her tongue over the tinny baby until the baby is cleaned.

Newly Born Panda Cub Is Very Healthy

Fake Pregnancy in 2014

Ai Bang was born in 2006 in Japan, and moved to Chengdu Panda Base on December 14, 2012. In August of 2014, her showed sign of giving birth, but after 48 hours waiting, it turned out to be a fake pregnancy which is a common case for many female pandas.

In the January of 2016, Ai Bang fell in love with a good panda boy Yong Yong in the base, and then completed the natural mating.
