Sichuan Shaanxi and Gansu Will Unite Together to Build Panda National Park

A Wild Giant Panda in Sichuan

During the China Giant Panda National Park Experimental Project Discussion Meeting, three major habitats of Giant Panda Sichuan, Shaanxi and Gansu Province reached a consensus to build a super large panda national park which will cross vast lands and connects the habitats in three provinces together. Many natural reserves, forest parks, scenic areas, geological parks, national forestry centers and even some World Natural Heritage Sites will be merged to the new national park.

According to the data from China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Pandas (CCRCGP), there are about 1864 giant pandas among of which about 1387 in Sichuan. The survey has showed the habitats in Sichuan, Gansu and Shaanxi are risking the danger of being divided and reduced because of human activities and several damaged earthquakes. The establishment of national panda park will connect the habitats together and create a vaster livable province-crossing habitat for panda, also will be better for protection of the whole ecosystem of panda habitats.
