The last time I visited Tiantaishan was on June of 2012. Nearly after 3 years, I can still remember every detai and experience of this trip clearly because Tiantaishan is such a impressive place. Even though it was a rainy day, but we had a wondeful time.
There are several cultural facts about Tiantaishan. Tiantaishan means the stage for the heaven. Ancient Sichuan people fated and praise for good luck and harvest to the gods of heaven on Tiantaishan. The most famous was made by Dayu(大禹) before he regulated rivers and deafeat flood. There used to be prosperous religious exist of both Taoism and Buddhism in Tiantaishan. But most of monasteries were destroyed during constant wars in Qionglai regions.
The best highlight in Tiantaishan is the brilliant mountain and water views. Mountains here are not very high, but they stand close to each other with increasing altitudes, and get green cover of plants.
With several of my best friends, I visted Mount Emei for the third time. For me, this was the best experience in Emei – cozy birthday party of friend, spectacular hiking in rainy day, unexpected sunshine, amazing cloud sea, holy Buddha statues…
We took the night high-speed train from Chengdu to Emeishan Train station which is conveniently located at the foot of Mountain Emei, then accommodated in a youth hotel in Baoguosi area.
On the next day, we took sightseeing bus to visit Wannian Monastery, then hiked up the rock steps to Xiaxiangchi for accommodation. The whole hiking took us about 8 hours.
We got up at 7 am. After breakfast, we started today’s hiking to the top of Emei- Golden Peak. The weather was quite good – sunny, clean and fresh. Everything looked fabulous in the sunshine. We spent nearly 4 hours walking up to the cable systems. We were a little bit tired, so took the cable car to the Golden Peak which took us straight to the peak within 5 minutes. We spent about two hours having fun, taking photos. Then walked down to Leidongping for the bus back to Baoguosi.
